Wow things are really looking up for me and my family. It's amazing the things that this industry has provided for us. A home, travel, two cars, and the ability to provide for our kids. Just when you think things can't be better they most certainly get that way. I am able to be home with my children and enjoy them right now. Most working families don't have that luxury. Not to mention the fact that I am about to work the same hours that my kids go to school. I am looking forward to helping my students in the class as well as over the course of their lives. If I give a handful of students the ability to succeed then I will have done a good job. ( Of course the goal is for all of them to be a success.)

Stay tuned for what is next on the journey!

Beauty school dropout... I think not!

Hair. It has always been something that I was fond of. It was something that I did for fun. People would call me and ask me to do their hair or makeup, sometimes polish their nails. I found that it relaxed me and helped me get out my creativity. I took cosmetology in high school. It was my elective. While others were playing volleyball, cheerleading, or in the band, I was doing wet sets, comb outs, and perm wraps. I graduated from high school with a trade college degree. I was going to work my way through college and major in international business. Somewhere along the way my A to B got sideswiped and I became a career hair stylist. I love what I do! I love it so much that I went back to beauty school to become an instructor. I will start teaching soon in a high school program similar to the one I went to. At the beauty school I got my instructor license from many of the students are not passing state board and I can't help but wonder, Why? They are getting a great education. They are getting opportunities and training that I could only dream of in my high school beauty school program.
Beauty school is what you make of it. If you go expecting to be taught everything you can keep dreaming. Beauty school students are a type of creative people that must first wrap their minds around a concept, then describe the concept, and finally perform the concept. Your education in any school is your responsibility. It's not your teachers job to make you understand the concept. It is the teachers job to give you the tools you need to succeed. It's what you do with the tools that make you a success!
